Ho Chi Minh City: 750,000 Visitors During the 2025 New Year Holiday.

Ho Chi Minh City Welcomes 750,000 Visitors During New Year’s Holiday 2025

On January 1st, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism announced that 750,000 visitors had toured tourist attractions, entertainment venues, dining establishments, and shopping centers during the 2025 New Year’s holiday (from December 31, 2024, to the afternoon of January 1, 2025).

This year, the city’s tourism industry has implemented various market stimulus activities, promoting inner-city destinations and attracting tourists.

Statistics show that during this New Year’s holiday, accommodation establishments hosted approximately 135,000 guests, with an occupancy rate of around 83%.

Additionally, about 41,215 international visitors arrived in Ho Chi Minh City, and the tourism sector generated revenue of approximately VND 2.013 trillion.

These results were achieved thanks to the Department of Tourism’s coordination with other relevant agencies to ensure safety at tourist destinations, maintain food hygiene standards, enforce listed pricing at businesses, and enhance service quality.

A notable highlight of this year’s New Year celebrations was the successful continuation of the tourism product "Tour of the Nationally Recognized Architectural Heritage – Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council and People's Committee Headquarters," which welcomed approximately 2,077 domestic and international visitors.

Tourism and travel businesses introduced over 100 exciting tourism products in Ho Chi Minh City, including unique offerings from Thu Duc City and 21 districts, as well as inter-provincial tours.

These initiatives helped attract tourists to explore Ho Chi Minh City and nearby destinations in the Southeast region and the Mekong Delta, ideal for a one-day New Year’s holiday trip.

Hotels in Ho Chi Minh City also launched numerous special packages, offering promotions such as gifts, vouchers, lucky draws, and discounts ranging from 10% to 45% for guests. New culinary menus were also introduced.

Meanwhile, shopping centers and commercial complexes certified to serve tourists—such as Crescent Mall, Gigamall, and Vincom—organized New Year promotions, with discounts of up to 50% on thousands of products, including food, cosmetics, and fashion items.

A Warm Welcome for International Visitors

According to Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, one of the most impressive highlights of the 2025 New Year’s holiday was the tourism promotional campaign at Tan Son Nhat International Airport’s International Arrivals Terminal.

A welcoming message in multiple languages, along with QR codes providing access to Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism information system, greeted international visitors.

Tan Son Nhat is one of Vietnam’s most important gateways, handling over 40 million international and domestic passengers annually. Travelers arriving in the city for the new year were welcomed with the message "Ho Chi Minh City Welcomes You," displayed in 27 different languages. This message, accompanied by vibrant images, was continuously broadcast on LED screens in the baggage claim area of the International Arrivals Terminal.

Additionally, a series of visually striking posters showcasing the beauty and dynamism of Ho Chi Minh City were carefully placed along the corridors leading from the arrival gates to immigration.

A Promising Year for Ho Chi Minh City's Tourism

2025 is set to be a breakthrough year for Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism industry, with new tourism products, professional services, exciting events, strong partnerships, and creative promotional strategies.

The city’s tourism sector aims to welcome 8.5 million international visitors and 45 million domestic tourists in 2025, targeting a total tourism revenue of approximately VND 260 trillion.
